Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our self-managed vps infrastructure and service terms.

Self-managed VPS (also called unmanaged VPS) means VNET India provides the virtualized server hardware and network infrastructure, while you are fully responsible for operating system installation, software configuration, security, updates, and maintenance. It is ideal for system administrators, developers, and technically experienced users who want maximum flexibility at a lower price.
Self-managed VPS requires intermediate to advanced Linux system administration skills: command-line proficiency (SSH), package management (apt/yum), web server configuration (Apache/Nginx), database administration (MySQL), firewall management (iptables/ufw), SSL certificate installation, and understanding of server security best practices. Beginners should consider managed VPS or shared hosting.
VNET India provides network-level and hardware-level support for self-managed VPS — we ensure the physical infrastructure, virtualization layer, and network connectivity are functioning correctly. Software-level issues (web server configs, application errors, OS problems) are your responsibility. We are happy to advise but will not administer your server software under a self-managed plan.
Yes. You can upgrade from a self-managed VPS to a managed VPS plan at any time. Simply contact VNET India support to discuss your current setup and migration options. We'll review your server state and provide a quote for transitioning to managed support.
